4 members of the Caldwell Junior section travelled to Dumfries & County Golf Club on Sunday 22 September to take part in the Stanley Morrison Charitable Trust Junior Team Golf Competition. Arriving in what can only be described as monsoon weather, the skies did clear to permit the competition to go ahead.
Roan Dorward and Harris Logue played particularly fine golf to win the Under 14s team category, a fantastic achievement on a course that neither had played before, and in soggy wet underfoot conditions.
Roan also finished top of the Under 14s individual scores with a great 23 stableford points for 9 holes.
In the same Under 14s category, Mia Thyne and Ella McGrath came out as the best Girls team, and in finishing 7th overall in the under 14s category, were ahead of many of the local boys and girls. Again a great achievement on a new course and wet conditions.
Two great pairs performances to win outright and beat a very strong turnout from the Dumfries & County Juniors section.
All four competitors are pictured here with Junior Convenor, Ian McMaster.
A big thanks to the parents who transported the junior players all the way to Dumfries to represent Caldwell Golf Club.
And a further note of thanks to James Erskine, PGA Pro at Dumfries and County, the Stanley Morrison Charitable Trust, and the Dumfries & County Golf Club for their hospitality and a well run competition.
